I found a thread of just about the same topic on a Redwall RP forum. What do you think a character in one of the books (or one of yours) should have for a theme song? Here are some I thought of:
Bluestar (When she's insane): Unwell, by Matchbox Twenty
Brambleclaw and Ashfur when they both want Squirrelflight: Listen to her Heart, by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Firestar confronting Tigerstar at the Gathering: God's Gonna Cut You Down, By Johnny Cash (only the course)
Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight (In the book Twilight): Straight Into Darkness, by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Graystripe, if he were to return to the old ThunderClan camp after they left: Old Apartment, by the Barenaked Ladies (yes, the band's name is weird, but their songs aren't inappropriate)
Brambleclaw, unsure of wheter to be loyal to ThunderClan or Hawkfrost: Zebra, by the John Butler Trio
Moonstar: Love Rescue Me, by U2 or Sixth Avenue Heartache by the Wallflowers

XD No one has, I have an odd taste. I'll post the lyrics:
"Unwell" All day Staring at the ceiling Making friends with shadows on my wall All night Hearing voices telling me That I should get some sleep Because tomorrow might be good for something Hold on I'm feeling like I'm headed for a Breakdown I don't know why I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell I know, right now you can't tell But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see A different side of me I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired I know, right now you don't care But soon enough you're gonna think of me And how I used to be Me Talking to myself in public Dodging glances on the train I know I know they've all been talking 'bout me I can hear them whisper And it makes me think there must be something wrong With me Out of all the hours thinking Somehow I've lost my mind I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell I know, right now you can't tell But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see A different side of me I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired I know right now you don't care But soon enough you're gonna think of me And how I used to be I been talking in my sleep Pretty soon they'll come to get me Yeah, they're taking me away I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell I know, right now you can't tell But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see A different side of me I'm not crazy I'm just a little impaired I know, right now you don't care But soon enough you're gonna think of me And how I used to be Hey, how I used to be How I used to be, yeah Well I'm just a little unwell How I used to be How I used to be
"Listen to her Heart" You think you're gonna take her away With your money and your cocaine Keep thinkin' that her mind is gonna change But I know everything is okay
She's gonna listen to her heart It's gonna tell her what to do She might need a lot of lovin' But she don't need you
You want me to think that I'm being used You want her to think it's over Can't you see it don't matter what you do Buddy you don't even know her
She's gonna listen to her heart It's gonna tell her what to do She might need a lot of lovin' But she don't need you
And you just can't creep up behind her And you can't understand that she's my girl She's my girl
She's gonna listen to her heart It's gonna tell her what to do She might need a lot of lovin' But she don't need you
"God's Gonna Cut You Down (Course)" You can run on for a long time Run on for a long time Run on for a long time Sooner or later God'll cut you down Sooner or later God'll cut you down
Go tell that long tongue liar Go and tell that midnight rider Tell the rambler, The gambler, The back biter Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down Tell 'em that God's gonna cut 'em down
"Straight Into Darkness" There was a little girl, I used t o know her I still think about her, time to time There was a moment when I really loved her Then one day the feeling just died
We went straight into darkness Out over the line Yeah straight into darkness Straight into nigh t
I remember flying out to london I remember the feeling at the time Out the window of the 747 Man there was nothin, only black sky
We went straight into darkness Out over the line Straight into darkness Straight into night
Oh give it up to me I need it Girl, I know when I see it Baby wrong or right I need it
I dont believe the good times are over I dont believe the thrill is all gone Real love is a mans salvation The weak ones fall the strong carry on
Straight into darkness Out over the line Yeah straight into darkness
"Old Apartment" (I'm making a Warriors one I'll post later.) Broke into the old apartment This is where we used to live Broken glass, broke and hungry Broken hearts and broken bones This is where we used to live
Why did you paint the walls? Why did you clean the floor? Why did you plaster over the hole I punched in the door? This is where we used to live
Why did you keep the mousetrap? Why did you keep the dishrack? These things used to be mine I guess they still are, I want them back
Broke into the old apartment Forty-two stairs from the street Crooked landing, crooked landlord Narrow laneway filled with crooks. This is where we used to live.
Why did they pave the lawn? Why did they change the locks? Why did I have to break it, I only came here to talk This is where we used to live
How is the neighbor downstairs? How is her temper this year? I turned up your tv and stomped on the floor just for fun I know we dont live here anymore We bought an old house on the danforth She loves me and her body keeps me warm Im happy here But this is where we used to live
Broke into the old apartment Tore the phone out of the wall Only memories, fading memories Blending into dull tableaux
I want them back I want them back
"Zebra" I can be loud man, I can be silent I could be young man or I could be old. I can be a gentleman, I can be violent. I could turn hot man or I can be cold. I could be just like the calm before the storm both, waiting for all heck yeah to break loose. I could be innocent or I could be guilty doesn’t mean that I don't believe in the news
So I’m singin’……
I could be rich like a wandering Gypsy I could be poor like a fat wallet lost. I could be first man or I could come last its not who breaks the ribbon boy it’s how you get across. I could be red blue black and white sunset or darkest at day boy or brightest at night I could be the sun man I could be the moon I'm made up from the stars boy I shining so bright.
So I’m singin’……
I could be asleep boy, or I could be awake I can be alive and a be the walking dead I can be ignorant, or I could be informed (Yes sir) I could lead my life man or I could be led (That's right) I can be anything I put my mind to boy all I gotta do is give myself half a chance I can bring love back into my life and share it with the world if I got some balance
So I’m singin’……
"Love Rescue Me" Love rescue me Come forth and speak to me Raise me up and don't let me fall No man is my enemy My own hands imprison me Love rescue me
Many strangers have I met On the road to my regret Many lost who seek to find themselves in me They ask me to reveal The very thoughts they would conceal Love rescue me
And the sun in the sky Makes a shadow of you and I Stretching out as the sun sinks in the sea I'm here without a name In the palace of my shame Said, love rescue me
In the cold mirror of a glass I see my reflection pass See the dark shades of what I used to be See the purple of her eyes The scarlet of my lies Love rescue me
Yeah, though I walk In the valley of shadow Yeah, I will fear no evil
I have cursed thy rod and staff They no longer comfort me Love rescue me
Sha la la...sha la la la Sha la la la...sha la la... Sha la la la...sha la la la Sha la la la...sha la la Sha la la la...sha la la la Sha la la...
I said love, love rescue me
I said love Climb up the mountains, said love I said love, oh my love On the hill of the son I'm on the eve of a storm And my word you must believe in Oh, I said love, rescue me Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah...
Yeah I'm here without a name In the palace of my shame I said love rescue me
I've conquered my past The future is here at last I stand at the entrance To a new world I can see The ruins to the right of me Will soon have lost sight of me
"6th Avenue Heartache" Sirens ring, the shots ring out A stranger cries, screams out loud I had my world strapped against my back I held my hands, never knew how to act
Chorus: And the same black line that was drawn on you Was drawn on me And now it's drawn me in 6th Avenue heartache
Below me was a homeless man I'm singin' songs I knew complete On the steps alone, his guitar in hand It's fifty years, stood where he stands
Now walkin' home on those streets The river winds move my feet Subway steam, like silhouettes in dreams They stood by me, just like moonbeams
Look out the window, down upon that street And gone like a midnight was that man But I see his six strings laid against that wall And all his things, they all look so small I got my fingers crossed on a shooting star Just like me-just moved on
AND: Lostshadow's Theme Song, "Song For Sonny Liston" So many mouths To feed on the farm Sonny was the second To the last one born His mamma ran away And his daddy beat him bad And he grew up wild Good love he never had
He had a left Like henry's hammer A right like betty bamalam Rode with the muggers In the dark and dread And all them sluggers Went down like lead
Well he hung with the hoods He wouldn't stroke the fans But he had dynamite In both his hands Boom bam Like the slammer door The bell and the can And the bodies on the floor
Beware the bear's in town Somebody's money says The bear's going down Yeah, the bear never smiles Sonny's going down For miles and miles Sonny's going down For miles and miles
The writers didn't like him The fight game jocks With his lowlife backers And his hands like rocks They didn't want to have A bogey man They didn't like him And he didn't like them
Black cadillac Alligator boots Money in the pockets Of his sharkskin suits Some say the bear Took a flop They couldn't believe it When they saw him drop
He had a left Like henry's hammer A right like betty bamalam Rode with the muggers In the dark and dread And all them sluggers Went down like lead
Joe Louis was his hero He tried to be the same But a criminal child Wears a ball and chain So the civil rights people Didn't want him on the throne And the hacks and the cops Wouldn't leave him alone
Beware the bear's in town Somebody's money says The bear's going down Yeah, the bear never smiles Sonny's going down For miles and miles Sonny's going down For miles and miles
At the foot of his bed With his feet on the floor There was dope in his veins And a pistol on the drawer There was no investigation As such He hated needles But he knew too much
Criss-crossed On his back Scars from his daddy Like slavery tracks The second-last child Was the second-last king Never again was it the same In the ring
He had a left Like henry's hammer A right like betty bamalam Rode with the muggers In the dark and dread And all them sluggers Went down like lead
They never could be sure About the day he was born A motherless child Set to working on the farm And they never could be sure About the day he died The bear was the king They cast aside
Beware the bear's in town Somebody's money says The bear's going down Yeah, the bear never smiles Sonny's going down For miles and miles Sonny's going down For miles and miles
"Some day they're gonna write a Blues for fighters. It'll just be for Slow guitar, soft trumpet and a bell."

Yeah, conuicidensley I can see similarites in the person being sang about (Sonny Liston apparently).
1. Lostshadow was physically abused by her father. Her mother didn't run off, but she just watched in silent, grim satisfaction as she saw her mate 'train' them, so she might as well have. 2. Lostshadow never had good love, until she met Icefur/paw. 3. She did hang out with evil people, and probably killed. 4. I only RPed Lostshadow smiling/laughing once.

*Lostshadow laughs dryly.* It's not something that can be taught, only naturally learned. That's the only time she laughed.

I thought they both liked each other, but if you don't want it that way, Lostshadow will live.

OK. Though I might wait until Snowpaw's a warrior...or I might lose all self-control and run off screaming to the nursery. You can decide.
